he business now known as E. M. Scott General Contractor, Inc. was started by Mr. Edward M. Scott in 1927 and has been active in the Tampa Bay area since that time.  In 1946 he was joined by his son, Edward F. Scott, who graduated from Georgia Tech in 1942 from the School of Architecture, and then served in the Air Corps in WWII.  Robert J. Scott, the younger son, joined the partnership in 1958 after graduating from Auburn University with a degree in Building Construction and serving in the Air Force.  After Edward M. Scott's death in 1968, the partnership of E. F. and R. J. Scott came into being.  In 1969, Bruce E. Scott, a graduate from Auburn University School of Engineering, joined the firm, and Mark J. Scott began his career with the firm in 1972. The business continued to succeed as a partnership and in 1982 was incorporated as    E. M. Scott General Contractor, Inc.  Edward F. Scott passed away in 1999 leaving a family legacy to carry on.

In 2001 Michelle Begué joined the company as Vice President of Administration and is now Vice President and Secretary.  Michelle graduated from the University of South Florida, with a B.A. in education.  Michelle’s background also includes estimating and project management.   Michelle Begué, being the eldest daughter of Bruce E. Scott, brings E. M. Scott General Contractor, Inc. to the fourth generation in business.

Mark J. Scott now serves as President and Treasurer, Bruce E. Scott is Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice-President, and Robert J. Scott is a consultant. 

The company has four (4) licensed State Certified General Contractors and one licensed State Certified Building Contractor all of whom enjoy giving personal attention to the construction business and receive great satisfaction in doing quality work at a fair price.
